No Veterinarian Care.  This is your milk!

Oath of God Ministries condemns the practices in America’s dairy factory farms as inhumane and cruel.  The dairy factory farm industry is fraught with corrupt animal husbandry processes which involves the inhumane treatment of dairy cows on a daily and widespread basis.  These practices have also resulted in inferior milk and meat product replete with bovine hormones, drugs and antibiotics all of which are harmful for human consumption.

Where is the Quality Milk & Meat?

Any idyllic image you may be entertaining of Elsi the cow grazing in a green pasture has long been forgotten and doesn’t exist.  There is nothing humane with today’s dairy factory farms or its closely related veal factory farms.

Oath of God Ministries has provided ethical and higher quality selections for meat and dairy.  Please review Cornucopia Institute’s rating list for milk and yogurt.  Many large grocery chains are claiming “organic” milk when the product is suspected to be factory farm product and where the animal conditions would otherwise prove ethically unacceptable to the conscientious consumer.  Some consumers are now considering alternative beverages that have the same if not superior nutritional value as milk.  We also acknowledge that many people, including Christians, are now adopting a vegan diet which allows them to bypass altogether the corruption found in today’s corporate dairy factory farms.

Painful Suffering of Cows in Factory Farms

Dairy cows spend a life of confinement without exercise.  God never meant for any cow to remain confined without exercise.

Factory farm cows never graze and therefore are not grass-fed cows.  The cows are not eating the diet God designed for them.  Cows that are grass fed on a year round basis produce a better fat quality (often involving more omega-3 fats, better ratios of omega-6 to omega-3 fats, increased amounts of conjugated linoleic acid, and higher quality saturated fat); increased amounts of certain vitamins (for example, vitamin E, or vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene); and increased amounts of other nutrients.  (Grass feeding 101)   It is a much more humane setting for the cow as well.  Factory farm dairy cows are not healthy animals.

Cows are ruminants whose digestive system is not designed to eat grain.  Eating grain can result in severe health problems for the cow such as liver abscesses, bloat, and sudden death syndrome.  Livestock producers use corn and soy to put weight on the cow to bring a higher dollar value.

Beatings, punching, stomping, and the use of electrical prods are daily tactics used to move the cows to slaughter.

Most dairy cows are kept indoors.  Some factory farms may allow access to outdoor concrete flooring or dirt paddocks.  The cows are forced to stand for long periods of time on hard surfaces.  God never designed their hooves for hard surfaces which frequently results in lameness and difficulty walking.

Tight rubber rings are placed around the cow’s tail until the tail falls off.  This is called “tail docking”.  Sometimes the tail is cut off using pruners.  Both methods cause long-lasting pain for the cow.  Since the cow uses its tail to swish flies as God designed it to do – the cows suffer miserably during the fly season.

Dairy cows must be impregnated in order to produce milk for human consumption.

Dairy cows spend oppressive years in a constant cycle of impregnation, birth, and milking.  They may experience a few months of rest between pregnancies.

Due to bovine growth hormones, cows produce 100 pounds of milk per day which is not God’s intent or design for any cow.  This production level is 10 times higher than what production was 10 years ago.  It exhausts the cow, robs her of vitality and considerably shortens her life.  It is cruel and abusive.

The repeated injections of bovine growth hormones cause great suffering to the cow placing her at high risk for mastitis and lameness.

Under cover videos show some cows walking on their elbow joints to slaughter.  This lameness is a result of the bovine growth hormones.

Typically within 3 years of complete exhaustion and deteriorated health – they are sent to slaughter for hamburger.  Yet the natural life expectancy of a cow is 20 years.  These cows are considered “spent”.

75% of downed animals are dairy cows.

Fork lift trucks and large cranes are used to remove the downed cows that are so sick they die during their walk to slaughter.  Often times workers during transportation or in the slaughter yards beat or push them and sometimes they are dragged by trucks until  their “spent” bodies are pushed into the slaughter house for killing or simply discarded.
