I returned home from work one afternoon to find my cat Bismark running to greet me.  She greeted me on a daily basis and she always cheered me up.

I parked the car in the driveway, got out and greeted her as usual.  After saying hello to me in her typical way, she went about her business and then seemed to disappear from my sight.  At that point, I remembered that I needed to run an errand.  I got into the car again and started backing out of the driveway.  All of a sudden I felt the tire go over a rather large bump.  I didn’t have any bumps in the driveway so I became deeply concerned about what that large bump might have been.  I stopped the car, got out and went behind the car only to discover that I ran over my precious Bismark.

I was devastated.  Bismark was limp.  She could not move.  She could not walk.  In fact, Bismark couldn’t do anything.  I ran over my own beloved cat.  During this time in my life, I was relying completely on Christ for healing so I decided to rely on Christ for healing Bismark as well.  I realize that many people would think I was cruel or inhumane for not taking Bismark to the veterinarian but I strongly felt that Christ was more than sufficient to heal my cat.

In order for Christ to heal I knew that I would have to put away the guilt I felt.  In God’s heavenly atmospheres there are no accidents.  I called a friend who was very strong in prayer.  We both agreed to declare biblical truths over Bismark.  During the next two days, Bismark did not move.  She was listless.  She did not eat or drink anything.  She remained lying on her side as if she were dead.  Nothing seemed to change but I remained firm in my faith that Christ’s healing power would triumph.  I continued to make her as comfortable as possible and called my friend who continued in prayer with me.

On the third day, Bismark arose from her lying position and began taking food and water.  Praise Jesus!  I called my friend and we both rejoiced.  Thereafter, Bismark would follow me everywhere I went.  If I took a walk around the neighborhood, Bismark followed me like a puppy dog.  She always sat at my feet.  I remember one evening when I attended a neighborhood meeting, Bismark followed me there as well.  She stood outside my neighbor’s front door howling for me to come out.  She was the most precious cat and gave me great joy and wonderful memories.
