I was involved in spearheading a housing project ministry. I was on the phone with a volunteer discussing the ministry. While chatting, I saw an open vision of a young single mother who I had encountered earlier in the ministry. I had visited her only once at her home at one of the housing projects. I mentioned the vision to the volunteer. He told me that I was to visit this single mother. I didn’t think anything of it and didn’t go to visit with her either.
A week later, I experienced another open vision of this young single mother. Again, I did nothing about it.
On a separate occasion, I was on the phone again with the same volunteer and mentioned that I experienced a 2nd open vision. I explained that this woman’s face flashed across my vision screen. The volunteer reprimanded me and said, “You’re being disobedient to God. You are supposed to go and visit this woman.” At that point I took the message seriously and decided to visit with the mother.
The next day, I found my way to her home in one of the town’s projects. When I knocked on the door, I said “Christine, the Lord has spoken to me that I should come and visit with you. Is everything OK?” At that point, she broke down and cried telling me that her estranged husband had left and that he deliberately tore up my contact information and that she had no way of getting in touch with me for help.
I was then able to minister to her. She lived in my home for a while until we could find her a nice apartment elsewhere.
