A Recipe for Cruelty Using Dogs IAMS and Animal Product Testing:  IAMS is owned by Procter & Gamble.  IAMS contracted with Sinclair Research Center to perform invasive research tests on both cats and dogs for its cat and dog food.  The tests performed on these dogs are not required by law.  Hundreds of other non-commercial companion-animal food companies do not perform these tests.  These dogs are lying in filth with large chunks of thigh muscle removed from their legs.  One dog did die in this experiment.  According to Examiner.com “the United States Department of Health cited that Sinclair Research Center had failed to provide vet care for the suffering animals, failed to provide enough space for the animals, failed to provide training for employees and nearly 40 other violations of the Animal Welfare Act. After pressure from numerous outlets IAMS severed its’ ties with Sinclair Research Center, ended invasive testing on cats and dogs and agreed to conduct in-home humane testing on animals”.  It is still suspected by some activist organizations that a portion of Iams’ in-house testing may still include these types of invasive surgeries but this cannot be verified at this time.
