Vaccines Using Aborted Tissue Cells

Oath of God Ministries condemns the use of any tissue or cell line taken from an aborted baby for the purpose of creating a vaccine.  With conclusive evidence – it has been public knowledge for many years now confirming the admitted use of aborted fetal tissue cells in the “development” of common vaccines.  In the face of science, this is something that God cannot honor and its continued use will prove randomly problematic over time to the scientists, government and general population using these vaccines.

The Vaccine’s Purpose

The goal of every vaccine is to weaken a virus or bacteria in the body whereby the person’s immune system has the capacity to fight the virus without developing any symptoms of infection. The beauty of a vaccine is that essentially it doesn’t rapidly reproduce in high quantities. Instead the vaccine reproduces sufficiently to induce “memory B cells” that protect against a future infection. In contrast, a virus has the propensity to rapidly reproduce which gives it the aggressive advantage of overtaking the body’s immune system resulting in disease, sickness or death. The ultimate goal of the vaccine is to have the body’s immune system develop its own antibodies to defend itself against the disease or sickness.

Creating A Vaccine

How does the process begin in developing a vaccine?  Initially the virus is studied and subsequently grown in a cell culture. Specific cell lines may be used to create a vaccine to prevent a variety of diseases.  The ultimate goal is to create an antigen which is used to induce an immune response. An antigen is a substance that provokes the immune system to generate antibodies against it.(1)  An antibody is a protein generated by the immune system in response to the presence of a specific antigen.  Antibodies attach to that antigen to help counter its effects.(2)  This is how vaccines are used in preventing disease.

Through the first half of the 20th century, most vaccines would continue to be developed with the use of animals, either by growing pathogens in live animals or by using animal cells.(3)  It is important to use cell lines that rapidly reproduce.  Some biotech companies may use something as simple as a chicken embryo while others may choose cell lines from an aborted fetus.  The use of the latter is discussed in greater detail in this article. The next step is to release the antigen from the cells and isolate it from the material used in its development.(4)  Therefore the cell lines from either the aborted fetus or animal are never incorporated into the finished vaccine.  The final step is to remove the proteins and other parts of the growth medium that may still be present and must be removed.(5)   Again, this is to remove the cells lines which in themselves are contaminants.  Various processes are used to purify the vaccine.  Some scientists believe, however, that it is impossible to remove every sight of a contaminant in a vaccine which in itself can create serious problems for the human adult or child receiving the vaccine.

Where Did the Fetal Stem Cells Originate

The (MRC-5) was derived from an abortion performed in September,1966.  The aborted baby was a 14 week gestation fetus, Caucasian male with no abnormalities.(6)  The (WI-38) was derived from an abortion performed in July, 1962.  The aborted baby was a 3 month gestation fetus, Caucasian female with no abnormalities.(7)

Stanley Plotkin, MD

Dr. Stanley A. Plotkin is Emeritus Professor of the University of Pennsylvania, and Adjunct Professor of the Johns Hopkins University.  Until 1991, he was Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania, Professor of Virology at the Wistar Institute and at the same time, Director of Infectious Diseases and Senior Physician at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  In 1991, Dr. Plotkin left the University to join the vaccine manufacturer, Pasteur-Mérieux-Connaught, where for seven years he was Medical and Scientific Director, based at Marnes-la-Coquette, outside Paris.  The same company is now named Sanofi Pasteur.  He is now consultant to vaccine manufacturers, biotechnology companies and non-profit research organizations as principal of Vaxconsult, LLC.(8)

There was a famous exchange between Albert B. Sabin, MC, and Plotkin at a scientific meeting in 1960. Sabin refuted Plotkin’s use of cell lines derived from human fetal tissue.  Plotkin’s reply to Sabin was “I must say that despite my great and sincere respect for Dr. Sabin, I think the statements he has made are strictly ex cathedra and without a factual basis.  So my conclusion is that what we are dealing with here is theology, and you see, in theology it is very difficult to disprove the existence of ghosts.  But this is not, to my mind, a basis for making intellectual decisions.(9)   This debate will continue between the secular world and pro-life religious groups for many years moving foward.
