I have always done a great deal of travel for various companies.  One evening I parked my car in a hotel parking lot.  I was utterly exhausted.  As I got out of the car and shut the door, the Holy Spirit said, “Go back and lock the car”.  I was so physically exhausted and grumpy from extensive travel I responded, “No I’m tired and I don’t care.  I just want to sleep”.  When I look back at my temper tantrum – I still can’t believe my disobedient and ungrateful behavior towards a loving God.

Well, the next morning I realized that my car had been stolen the night before from the hotel’s parking lot.  I repented to the Lord for my disobedience.  I reported the loss to the police.  The Lord told me there were 3 men involved with the theft and that I should pray for healing.  In obedience this time, I did pray for healing although I thought the request was rather strange.

At a later date, I received a phone call from a homicide detective in the city’s police department.  He said, “Your car has been recovered.  It was used in a “drug deal gone bad”.  He added, “The 3 men arrived at the hospital using your car for their transportation following the drug deal gone bad.  One of the young men was shot in the drug deal.”  He also said, “No one can understand how this young man is still alive and recovering.  He should be dead.  The perpetrator shot the gun from behind the car.  The bullet went straight through the back of the car and into the backseat where one of the young men was sitting.  The bullet continued through his body.”  He repeated,No one can figure out why this young man is still alive.  The wound was sufficiently lethal to kill him.  He should be dead but is recovering”.

At a later date, I visited the hotel’s breakfast room.  I met again one of the waitresses who already knew that my car had been stolen.  I told her at an earlier time.  She was off duty and joined me for breakfast.  I told her that my car had been recovered by the police in a drug deal gone bad.  She said that her hairdresser’s son was recently involved in a drug deal gone bad as well.   She continued to tell me that at an earlier time, while visiting her hairdresser’s home, she met with the son.  In the spirit she sensed he was involved in drugs so she prayed for his salvation in Christ Jesus.

By reviewing the details, we both realized that we had been praying for the same young man involved in the drug deal gone bad while using my stolen car.  Before the drug deal, the Lord had the waitress praying for his salvation while He had me praying for his healing.  Evidently this young man was very important to the Lord.
