Genetically Modified Meat Chickens – Factory Farms

Oath of God Ministries condemns both the genetic modifying of chickens for meat consumption and the inhumane conditions of the factory farms where they are bred.  This type of meat product is potentially harmful to humans and grossly trespasses God’s animal husbandry processes.   Oath of God Ministries urges consumers to boycott this factory farm meat product altogether for a more humane and higher quality type of meat or non-meat alternative.

Currently over 40 million chickens and turkeys have been destroyed due to America’s epidemic of the H5 Avian Influenza.  When you have miserable and unsanitary conditions it will affect the poultry’s health.  The product for human consumption is also in question.  

God never intended these type of factory farm processes to be imposed on any animal or foul as they are cruel and inhumane.  We have also provided healthier and higher grade selections should consumers prefer this type of meat.  We hope this meets with your satisfaction.  Oath of God Ministries equally acknowledges that many people, including Christians, are now adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet whether for ethical reasons or health reasons, we do not know.

– Broiler (meat) chickens have been subjected to intense genetic selection.

– Many broiler chickens can’t walk due to the gross weight gain caused by mankind’s genetic engineering. 

– In the past 50 years , broiler growth rates increased by over 300% (from 25g per day to 100 g per day) 

– In 6 weeks a normal bird will weigh (1) pound whereas a genetically modified bird may weigh 5 pounds in the same timeframe.

– Many broilers are deliberately starved to stop their rapid growth.  Otherwise they will die. 

– The broiler’s bones and internal organs cannot keep up with its inordinate growth.  Bone problems and skeletal disorders occur.  Many die of heart attacks.

– Many are born with birth defects and aberrant pathologies. 

-.Genetically modified chickens have a (7) times higher mortality rate than laying hens of the same age.  

– At least 25% of all broilers are lame and studies show they are in pain.

– In various experiments using lame birds, they will choose painkillers over regular food when offered (Danbury et, United Poultry Concerns) 

– Many of the broilers receive ammonia burns because they are forced to sit in their own urine and fecal material
 
– Their mortality rate is (7) times higher than laying hens of the same age  (Turner, pp. 11-12).

   


By viewing the above photographic illustration you can better understand why the genetically engineered birds have heart defects and failures. Their rapid growth cannot withstand the  constant weight gain.  They are extremely ill birds by the time they reach the slaughter house and subsequently your plate.
