I was admitted to the hospital because my esophagus was severely inflamed and ulcerated. The doctors were unable to determine the cause. The medical staff made a decision to transfer me to another hospital hopefully to find the reason for my sickness. I remained in considerable pain and received morphine to help ease it.
One evening in the hospital I was unable to sleep. I felt a strong sense that God was in my room. I talked to God and said I was not asking to find what was causing my problems or to cure me. I only needed to feel Him with me.
The next morning when I awoke, I knew something was different with me. I felt that I no longer needed the morphine and realized I could now take fluids and a soft food diet. My condition continued to improve and I was eventually discharged.
I think about this experience often as it gives me great encouragement in other areas of my life. I remain grateful for His presence in my life.
